ABOUT SPRITES

Find a Sprite, Extract It, Collect It

Fortnite Sprites are the headline mechanic of the Runners season — pocket-sized companions with wildly different powers you can find, extract, and take with you into future matches. Some can wrap you in shields, grant temporary invisibility, or give a bonus burst of damage. Rare ones can change the whole flow of a match.

Each Sprite grants a special Sprite Power ability when equipped. Find one in a match, get to an Extraction Site, defend your pick-up while the timer runs, and you'll bank it to your Collection for future matches. Get eliminated before you bank the Sprite and it'll be left on the battlefield for the next player to steal — so once you find one, be quick.

There are four main rarity tiers — Rare, Epic, Legendary, and Mythic — plus themed Special variants like Gold, Gummy, Galaxy, Gem, Holofoil, and Rift. Higher rarities are harder to find but grant stronger effects. Use the filter above to browse all 87 Fortnite Sprites, or dive into the full guide for details on every one.

How to Extract Fortnite Sprites

The core loop of collecting Fortnite Sprites is simple on paper but risky in practice. When you spot a wild Sprite on the map, walk up to it and interact — the Sprite will follow you until you find an Extraction Site. Extraction Sites are marked stations scattered around the island where you channel a timer to bank the Sprite into your permanent Collection.

During the extraction timer, you are extremely vulnerable. Other players see the extraction beacon from a distance and will push hard to steal your prize. If you die before the timer completes, the Sprite drops on the ground and the next player who picks it up gets to start their own extraction attempt. That means the value of Fortnite Sprites is not just in finding them — it's in defending them long enough to actually keep one.

Once a Sprite is banked, it stays in your Collection forever. You can load out any Sprite you own before dropping into a match, and its Sprite Power activates the moment the effect condition triggers in-game. Some Fortnite Sprites like Water Sprite activate passively based on where you stand, while others like Fire Sprite trigger on damage dealt or shots landed.

RARITY GUIDE

Fortnite Sprites Rarity Tiers Explained

Rare Sprites are your entry point — Water, Earth, Fire, and Fishy fall in this tier. They summon for only 100 Sprite Dust and drop at roughly 12–14% out of Sprite Chests, making them the easiest to collect early. Their effects are practical rather than flashy: shield regen, chest loot bonuses, burst damage on wounded enemies.

Epic Sprites — Duck, Ghost, Demon, King, Striker, Aura — sit in the middle. Their summon cost jumps to 3,000 Sprite Dust and drop rates fall to about 5–6%. Effects here start to genuinely change how you play: Ghost Sprite cloaks you on reload, King Sprite buffs pickaxe damage, Demon Sprite siphons health on kills.

Legendary Sprites — Dream, Punk, Boss, Seven — cost 5,000 Sprite Dust to summon and appear in only ~2% of chests. Dream Sprite in particular is a wildcard: it drops random loot at every level-up, culminating in legendary items at Max Level.

Mythic is the top of the Fortnite Sprites food chain. Zero Point Sprite, Burnt Peanut, Grim, and John Wick are the four Mythic entries. Zero Point costs 7,500 Sprite Dust and drops at a punishing 0.000098% — you will most likely never see one appear naturally in a match, which is why summoning is the realistic path for these top-tier picks.

Special variants (Gold, Gummy, Galaxy, Gem, Holofoil, Rift) are cosmetic re-skins of base Sprites that add a secondary team-wide buff on top of the base effect — bonus XP, extra Sprite Dust on extraction, additional ammo when looting, or a party-wide chance to find rare variants.

PICK GUIDE

Best Fortnite Sprites for Every Playstyle

For aggressive players, Fire Sprite and Demon Sprite are the two Fortnite Sprites to chase first. Fire creates a burst on damage dealt so it rewards continuous engagement, while Demon returns HP and shields on eliminations, letting you snowball fights instead of retreating to heal.

For defensive or utility players, Water Sprite and Ghost Sprite dominate. Water regenerates shields for you and your entire nearby Squad while you stand in water — invaluable for rotations along rivers. Ghost gives you a cloak window every time you reload, which turns every gunfight into a potential reset button.

For loot-focused players, Earth Sprite and Dream Sprite pay dividends over a full match. Earth boosts your odds of pulling rare items out of chests, and Dream literally hands you random items at every Sprite level-up. Combine either with a Gold variant for the 3× elimination XP kicker.

For endgame specialists, King Sprite and Zero Point Sprite reward map knowledge. King's pickaxe damage boost matters most in build-and-brawl endgame, and Zero Point auto-deploys a Shield Bubble Jr. whenever you heal — turning every med item into instant cover.

FAQ

Fortnite Sprites — Frequently Asked Questions

How many Fortnite Sprites are there in the Runners season?

There are 87 Fortnite Sprites in total across all rarities and themed variants, though only 20 are unique base characters. The rest are Special theme variants — Gold, Gummy, Galaxy, Gem, Holofoil, and Rift — of those base Sprites.

What's the rarest Sprite in Fortnite?

The rarest of all Fortnite Sprites is Zero Point Sprite. It drops from Sprite Chests at approximately 0.000098%, making natural discovery essentially impossible. Most players who own one obtained it by summoning it for 7,500 Sprite Dust.

Can I keep a Sprite if I get eliminated?

Only Fortnite Sprites you have already extracted are safe. Any Sprite you were carrying but had not yet banked at an Extraction Site is dropped when you're eliminated, and other players can pick it up and start their own extraction on it.

How do I unlock Special variants of Fortnite Sprites?

Special variants (Gold, Gummy, Galaxy, Gem, Holofoil, Rift) can be pulled from Sprite Chests at very low drop rates, or summoned directly using Sprite Dust once you know they exist. Costs range from 4,000 Sprite Dust for Gold, Gummy, and Galaxy variants of common bases, up to 15,000 for Gold Zero Point.

Do Fortnite Sprites work across all game modes?

Sprites are a Runners season Battle Royale feature. They activate in standard BR modes where the Sprite system is enabled. Load out your chosen Sprite from your Collection before the match starts and its Sprite Power will trigger automatically when its condition is met.

Where can I find every Sprite location?

Check the Location Map page for a full breakdown of where each Sprite spawns — rivers and beaches, forests, urban areas, mountains, or hidden vaults. For strength rankings, see our Tier List.
