See where every sprite spawns on the Fortnite Runners season map — rivers, forests, urban areas, mountains, and hidden vaults.
Sprite Chests are scattered across the entire Runners season map, but their contents and access requirements vary. Use the map below to plan your rotation, then jump to the location-based sprite groups further down for exactly which sprites spawn where.
Each pin on the map represents a Sprite Chest spawn — the primary source of random sprites in a match. Chests are color-coded by what you need to open them:
Open on sight. These are the easiest chests to farm early game — grab them on your rotation and keep moving.
You need a Vault Key to open these. Keys drop from eliminated players or specific loot pools. Yellow chests tend to have better sprite rolls, so they're worth the detour if you're already carrying a key.
The top-tier lock. Keycards are rare and usually tied to POI bosses or Relic Chests. Reserve these for mid-to-late-game pushes when you've got the resources to defend the pickup.
Every base sprite has a specific spawn habitat. Land where you want to farm — you'll find the sprite there naturally without needing to open a chest.
Sprites that appear near flowing water and coastlines — safer to farm because they're often away from the center of fights.
Wooded biomes across the middle of the island — look around The Batti Woods and similar zones.
City POIs like Sinister Strip and Latte Landing — high-traffic zones with heavy fights.
The densest sprite biome — five different sprites spawn on hilltops and elevated terrain like Twin Ridge and Cluster Coast.
One of the most valuable sprites, but only spawns when the in-game clock is at night. Plan your drops accordingly.
Some sprites don't wander the map — you find them exclusively inside chests, vaults, or by defeating specific enemies. These are usually rarer and higher-tier.
Look for the vault at the businessman POI (marked with red pins requiring Keycards on the map).
Occasionally found sleeping in scattered storage containers — check warehouses and depots.
These sprites only appear from Sprite Chest openings, not out in the world. Drop rates are extremely low, especially for Mythic tier — most players summon these using Sprite Dust instead.
A separate rare chest type with its own loot pool.
Guaranteed drop from a specific mid-map boss encounter — worth the risk since Boss Sprite is one of the strongest survivability picks.
Green Sprite Chests need no key, so hit them on your drop rotation to build up basic sprite collection. Save red keycard chests for the mid-to-late game when you're geared up and can defend the pickup.
Ghost only spawns at night. If you're chasing Ghost specifically, drop into a night-time match — trying to farm it during the day is a waste.
Five sprites — Fishy, Striker, Aura, Air, Seven — all spawn at high elevations. If you want variety in one drop, hit the mountains near Twin Ridge or Cluster Coast.
Wild sprites (found in biomes) need to be brought to an Extraction Site to bank into your Collection. Chest-obtained sprites go straight to your inventory. See how sprites work for the full extraction mechanic.
Once you know where they spawn, figure out which ones are worth chasing on the tier list, or browse the full catalog. Spawn locations reflect the current Runners season and may shift with Epic's regular map updates.
